The Heck - Who?

Dutch Trio, The Heck offer up a healthy slab of 60's Garage Rock. As you would expect, there is little coming up for air as the Guitar, Bass and Drums are on full assault, although there are diversions such as the great Organ run on the slower I Won't Change.

You can envisage sweaty suits in a sweaty venue where the audience find a more exciting way to lose weight. Imagine if The Seeds came from Canvey Island and you'd be in Heck territory. Indeed there's a lot of Dr Feelgood about the band.

This may be heads down stuff, but there's plenty to like. An almost surf touch in the R and B of  Money, hints of The Jam on Cold As Ice and Do You Love Me is Teen Ballad bordering on Power Pop. There's also a cracking short instrumental, Panic Attack, that would make a great set opener.

However, it is that Garage Rock where the band excel, particularly Waiting In Line and Nothing Will Do. Although, the almost five minutes of That Moon is an epic album closer that has a hint of Psych about it. Who? is a fine listen and The Heck are a band to be witnessed live.

You can listen to and buy the album here.
