Defecting Grey - Run Silent

Run Silent is the New Jersey Trio's second EP. However the six songs come in at over 23 minutes which is nearly as long as some albums. Defecting Grey offer up a beautifully produced snapshot of what they are about. They just don't come up for air.

You can imagine what a Live Band these three are. Your Moonlight ends proceedings and encapsulates all that the band are about. Pace, sweat and real shake your fist stuff, superbly played with an Eddie Clarke type solo.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Rock and you should just embrace it. Cathedral shows the appeal. It sounds so Hawkwind in the verse, the chorus could be Status Quo and the back beat is Power Pop. Confused? No need to be =, just sit down, or even better, stand up and enjoy.

World Stop Spinning borders on Metal with a killer riff, Hear What I Say edges on Rock and Roll and my particular favourite, Make It Impossible, has an AOR almost Meatloaf feel. Run Silent is splendidly noisy, a corker of a listen. It'll wake up the neighbours, but that's their fault for going to bed too early.

You can listen to and buy the album here.
