Alain Pire Experience - The Journey

We are big fans of Alain Pire, he even got the sought after Mick Dillingham interview here. The Experience as a Trio are right up our street. Locked together as all good Power Trios should be, the albums are never a disappointment and The Journey may be their most accessible yet.

The Psych Pop is still prevalent, it could be nothing but, yet this album offers up some great Pop Rock and Classic Rock. Indeed,Tell Me Why? has massive hints of UK Glam Rock and Those Were The Days is prime time Brit Pop.

The title track is also very Brit Pop, but also more than a little Magical Mystery Tour arrangement wise with its Psych Pop drums and fanfare trumpets. Summer Days goes all Classic Rock man, all mood and 70s Rock Riff.

Fear not Psych lovers, The Temple is wonderful Psych Pop and the closer, Number 9 is mesmerising hypnotic Psych of the highest order. An absolutely gripping instrumental. Summer Days finds the Trio in superb 60s form, part UK Beat edging a little to the Psych Pire is noted for..

The Journey does sound a little less 70s Pink Floyd and a more all encompassing chorus led harmonic fest. It shows a whole new side to the band and only enhances their reputation. This is exactly how Rock albums should sound, restrained at times, but incredibly effective.

You can listen to and buy the album here.
