Collation of our Best Of 2024 has begun and will start to appear at the back end of the week in the usual format. That is two posts of 10 per day that include an album track and a link to our review. The countdown is from 100 - 1 with the Top 10 appearing as the final post.
I have to admit that I am not a list maker. When IDHAS started, there was no plan to do something like this. Lists are subjective and there are perhaps too many. The plan was to just name an album of the year and leave it at that. But follower demand and artists and listeners interested in our point of view swayed the original point of view.
They have become a big part of what we do. For instance, last year's Top 10 got over 12,000 views, a lot for a site that concentrates on the new and unappreciated across very limited genres. The 100 are always hard to pick and even harder to put in order.
The collation takes a lot of work even though its is limited to albums that have been reviewed on here. There is a lot of re-listening involved and that has led to the quiet week on here. So whilst the list is put together, I came up with an idea.
Until 91 - 100 appears, I thought we would highlight the albums that have been named Album Of The Year from our beginnings in 2016 until 2023. We will also mix in a few reviews of 2025 releases just to keep content and interest going until the Best Of 2024 starts.
There are also a couple of longer non new pieces that I have meant to include on here, although they may wait until after the listing. We are always one of the latest to publish our reflection on 2024 to allow us to hear as many of that year's releases as possible and a lot come in or are released late in the year. Some of the best albums in some cases.
