Jangle Pop is having a moment presently and that must be delighting Darrin at Subjangle, but should please us all. So you can expect lots of Teenage Fanclub mentions from scribes to be revived. Truth be known, Hanemoon is more akin to Dropkick.
Rain Or Shine has all the traits that you need and want, that gentle Jangle, songs built on a vibe that washes over you beautifully. Calling the songs nice would be way too bland and insulting as it takes a real knack to excel in this genre.
This is the sound of Glasgow, so it is surprising to tell you that Hans Forster is from Berlin and has been behind a multitude of projects, most recently the recent superb Man Behind Tree album. You can read the IDHAS Review of that here.
You probably know what to expect here, you'd be disappointed if it didn't match your expectations. There is a wonderful mellow chilled out vibe to the 12 songs. But not everything is the same. Old From New has a splendid West Coast feel to it.
Down The Rabbit Hole has a much more earthy vocal and a great dual harmony towards the close. It feels more mid 80s Indie. Got A Date Tomorrow still Jangles, but sounds a bit more 70s strumming Pop Rock, almost Country Rock.
Let The Sun Come In gets very close to TFC, yet also sounds a little Crosby, Stills And Nash. Comets closes the album with a rockier instrumental, but it is a gentle rock. It takes certain skill to master this format and Forster does it brilliantly.
