Although, this place tends to stay on the straight and narrow musically and is really about what we are like, you may have learned that our tastes easily leave the chosen path, particularly my own. As a big Prog and Psych fan, those interests do find a way in, perhaps not as often as I would like or am allowed.
That sort of stuff floats my boat as much as Intelligent Indie, the quirkier the better. Here are the Polish quartet, Daffodil Pill and this is magnificent. The opener could be described as Psych Surf, but sounds and genres filter in everywhere across the 10 and a half minutes.
But worry ye not, this is the only song of that length, everything else coming in at far more comfortable lengths. Daffodil Pill spread their tentacles everywhere. You may never be quite the same after a listen. There is great melody amidst the chaos with a dashing rhythm section and big bursts of Organ.
Summer Children burst in all Telstar with a warbled vocal that accompanies the almost Space Pop with a hypnotic Bassline. King Cock is very close to 60s UK Beat whilst Evil Waves is a mix of Metal and more modern Pop Rock.
Swallow Song comes over all Modern Prog with hints of Classic Rock, yet Gilmagel is pure Psychedelic Rock Rock, yet engagingly melodic. No song ends as it starts and there is a surprising amount of catchiness amongst the experimental. This is absolutely wonderful!
You can listen to and buy the album here. It is available on Vinyl and as a download.
